Interactive Activity 1: “Guess the Animal!”

Duration:
20 minutes

Learning Outcome:

Remember, just like you in this game, AI learns and gets better the more it practices!

Materials Needed:

  • List of Animals: You can prepare a simple list or use flashcards with animal names and pictures to make it more visual and engaging for the kids.
  • Whiteboard or Flip Chart: This can be used to keep track of the questions asked and the answers received, helping the kids to visually see the process of elimination and pattern recognition.

How It Works:

You’ll be playing a game called “Guess the Animal!”
In this game, the “AI” (which could be your teacher or a simple decision tree on paper) is “thinking” of an animal.
Your job is to guess which animal it is by asking questions that can only be answered with “yes” or “no.”

Begin by asking questions like:

“Does it live in the water?”

“Is it bigger than a cat?”

“Does it have fur?”

Each question you ask should help you get closer to figuring out what animal the “AI” is thinking about.

Notice how each answer helps you eliminate some animals and focus on others.
Just like how AI works, you are using patterns and data from the answers to narrow down your choices and make a better guess.

When you think you know the answer, make your guess!
If you’re correct, celebrate your detective skills! If not, try to figure out where your questions could have been different.

Through this activity, you’ll learn how AI uses patterns and data to make decisions.

You’ll see that AI doesn’t immediately know the answer but instead gets closer by analyzing the patterns in the questions asked—just like solving a puzzle.
